'Funny Money' Passed At Toy And Hobby Store: Police

PALOS PARK, IL — Police are investigating an attempt to pass a counterfeit one-hundred dollar bill Thursday morning at a Palos Park business.

Around 11:30 a.m., a man entered Emmerson Toys, Gifts and Hobbies, 12940 South La Grange Road, Palos Park. The man tried to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit bill, police said. Alert staff realized the bill was fake and denied the transaction. Employees said the man fled. Police have recovered the counterfeit bill.

The suspect is described as a black male with some facial hair, and wearing a black coat and hoodie that covered a portion of his face. Local businesses should use caution with accepting larger bills. Palos Park investigators are reviewing the store’s security video, surveillance photos and other digital evidence.
