BK Man Exiting Vehicle Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver: NYPD

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The 57-year-old Brooklyn man who was killed in a hit-and-run crash as he was stepping out of his car in East New York Friday has been identified, authorities said.

Police officers responded to the crash at about 5:54 a.m. at the intersection of Wortman Avenue and Georgia Avenue, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

An initial investigation found Thechelet Babin, of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, was struck while exiting his car by an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on Wortman Avenue as the vehicle crossed over the solid double-yellow center lines, police said.

Medics pronounced Babin dead at the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made at this time and an investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
