NORTH FORK, NY — Despite the flurry of adoptions, of furry friends matched with their forever families at The League animal shelter on the North Fork, there is one dog that is always, always left behind.
According to Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations at The League, Carrington is a Lab mix, about a year-and-a-half old, who was found as a stray in Georgia and sent to the North Fork.
“He is a super dog, friendly! Good with all people, and house-trained,” she said.

Carrington even had a sleepover this weekend and his foster dad said he was “just perfect,” she said.
And yet, Carrington has remained in the shelter system since February, for seven long months of days and nights spent waiting.

“For some reason, he just keeps getting overlooked. We have not had one person even ask to see him,” she said.
If you’d like to meet Carrington, he is at the Southold Town shelter, located at 269 Peconic Lane in Peconic. Call to make an appointment at 631-765-1811 ext 1.
