– During NXT Deadline, a spot involving Trick Williams and Ridge Holland—initially reminiscent of Big E’s neck injury—was significantly toned down between rehearsals and the actual match.

– Debbie Keitel concluded her time with Fight Factory in Ireland on December 7th and is expected to announce her next steps soon. Talent from Fight Factory spoke highly of Keitel, expressing disappointment at her departure.

– Despite speculation on social media, Oro Mensah has not been released by WWE as of December 13th. Additionally, there is no confirmation that Keanu Carver has exited the company.

– Gunther received widespread praise backstage for salvaging the final spot of the triple threat world title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

– NXT is set to tape content in Boston on December 17th at a live event in Lowell, but this will not be the brand’s final taping for 2024. The last taping will take place on Thursday, December 19th, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. These final tapings will include material for both the Christmas and New Year’s editions of NXT, allowing talent to enjoy the holiday season with their families. Similarly, WWE taped a second episode of Friday Night SmackDown on December 13th, scheduled to air on December 20th. For more backstage news on plans for WWE TV next week and during the Christmas week, click here.

– As we noted last night, Liv Morgan did not suffer a broken nose at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It is believed that the blood she drew following IYO SKY’s brutal knee was caused by a piercing rather than a more serious injury.

Backstage Update On Reason For Kevin Owens Post-Show Angle After WWE SNME, Plans For WWE TV

The post-show angle filmed after the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show wrapped up on December 14 was done for a very specific reason.

In addition to providing some extra buzz for the return episode of the special Saturday night WWE on NBC and Peacock series, Kevin Owens’ package piledriver to Cody Rhodes and post-show altercation with Paul “Triple H” Levesque provided a much-needed boost for next week’s WWE television shows.

With WWE talent preparing for their holiday break following WWE Raw, the company opted for a double taping of SmackDown last week. This scheduling created a logistical challenge: Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes couldn’t appear in front of the live audience to avoid spoiling the outcome of their match, which was set to air the following night.

To address this, the post-show attack by Kevin Owens was strategically planned to help connect the storyline for next week. The live SmackDown crowd still had the opportunity to see both Cody Rhodes and Owens in person, while WWE worked creatively to include their segments in a way that kept the audience engaged.

As of this weekend, the plan is to air the attack on SmackDown alongside a backstage or in-car promo segment featuring Kevin Owens.

We will keep you posted as additional details regarding the post-show angle from WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and plans for next week’s WWE TV continues to surface.

Shelton Benjamin Explains Why He’s Not The Same Guy In AEW As He Was In WWE

“The Standard of Excellence” in AEW has changed.

And Shelton Benjamin is the one leading the charge.

The Hurt Syndicate member joined Aubrey Edwards and Will Washington on the December 12 episode of the company’s official AEW Unrestricted podcast for an in-depth interview, during which he spoke about how he nearly came to AEW a few times over the past year, before ultimately signing on the dotted line and making his debut on the October 16 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

“It was a long time coming,” Benjamin said of joining the mix in AEW. “We almost made it happen a few times over the past year, but to finally actually be there and to be performing in front of a live crowd on television, all of those things culminated into just for me a great night. So far, it’s been a great experience. I’m enjoying my time there. Like I said, I just want to bring the best of me to the programming.”

–>

Benjamin then spoke about the differences between his 18-years in WWE, and how he’s a completely different version of himself now that he is in AEW.

“Hopefully, we can do some big things while there,” he said. “Again, the feeling, surreal because not wanting to harp on my WWE experience too much, but that’s 18 years of my career, so it’s really hard not to reflect and compare the difference. It was humbling. I’m a very humble guy that way, but as far as my actual personality and my in-ring abilities, those have always been there, and it is actually refreshing to be able to show people what I really can do.”

Benjamin continued, “So far, fans seem to have taken to it. I feel like longtime fans always knew, and new fans are going like, okay, is this the same guy from WWE? Honestly, no, I’m not. I’m off the chain, unrestricted, unleashed, however you want to describe it, I’m able to work to my ability, and I feel like I’ll be able to work to my potential. I have big plans while I’m in AEW, and a world title is definitely on that agenda.”

Kevin Owens Comments On Post-Show Attack Of Cody Rhodes, Altercation With Triple H After WWE SNME

Kevin Owens surfaced on social media to comment on his actions on Saturday night.

As noted, “The Prize Fighter” left Cody Rhodes to be taken out on a stretcher after delivering a package piledriver to “The American Nightmare” after their match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.

Following the show, Owens took to X to set the record straight, correcting a statement released by WWE covering the story to word it in his own version.

“EXCLUSIVE: After getting screwed out of becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion by incompetent referees, Kevin Owens justifiably gets retribution on The American Person with an often imitated, never truly duplicated, PACKAGE PILEDRIVER just moments after Saturday Night’s Main Event goes off the air to send everyone home happy,” Owens wrote in the first of multiple posts.

–>

–>

He followed up by correcting an additional WWE on X post covering his altercation with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

“*Upon leaving gorilla, Triple H enthusiastically thanks Kevin Owens for the house and tells him how proud he is of Kevin for doing what needed to be done and taking what he truly deserves and proceeds to invite him over to his house for Christmas dinner and to watch Saturday Night’s Main Event back on a 734 inch tv,” he wrote.

Finally, Owens shared a photo of himself posing with the Winged Eagle WWE Championship that Cody wore to the ring at the 12/14 WWE on NBC special event, along with a caption that read, “Mine.”
