OSWEGO, IL — Three cars crashed near South Orchard Road and Lewis Street Wednesday morning in Oswego, police said.
At about 11:37 a.m., a car was driving northbound on Orchard Road when the driver reportedly ran a red light, hitting a car that was traveling westbound on Lewis Road, police spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch. The second car then hit a third, which was going west on Lewis Road.
The driver of the car that blew the light was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Nevara said. Two of the cars had to be towed from the scene.

Officials published an alert on Facebook at 11:41 a.m. to encourage drivers to avoid the area while an investigation was ongoing. By 12:25 a.m., the scene was cleared, according to an update.
