Stardew Valley’s 1.3 Multiplayer Update will be coming to Nintendo Switch on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Announced Monday by developer ConcernedApe on Stardew Valley’s Developer Blog, the update will be available in North American, European, and Japanese Nintendo eShop markets.
Stardew Valley’s multiplayer mode first launched on PC, Mac and Linux in August after a beta period that began last April.
The Multiplayer Update adds a four-player online co-op, where players each have their own cabin on a shared farm and work together farming, fishing, mining, and foraging to meet their goals. Each player will still have their own personal achievements, skills, quests, recipes, and relationships.
Nintendo Switch-only features include communicating through the Switch online voice chat or the new chat box, which now offers close to 200 Stardew Valley emojis.
Switch users can also connect their consoles together to play between a short distance, with two to four consoles at once.
Content for the 1.3 single player update has also been expanded, with a traveling festival called The Night Market that will be available for 3 days in winter, along with secret events and collections that will gain bonuses for players.
ConcernedApe said the PS4 and Xbox One Multiplayer updates are their next priority, and more announcements will release in the near future after the Switch update.
Stardew Valley launched on mobile this past October, and IGN recently re-reviewed the game and said, “Several big content updates grow Stardew Valley into an even more delightful, robust farming RPG,” giving it a 9.5.
