Backstage AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday Updates: Drastic Changes Made, Big Plans For Daniel Garcia

Some backstage news and notes have surfaced coming out of the AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday show and ROH on HonorClub and AEW Rampage taping on Tuesday night, October 8, 2024 at the Spokane Arena in Spokane, WA.

Featured below are some of the news and notes coming out of the taping:

– Tony Khan was working with executives around the lock for the last couple of weeks across multiple shows due to the implications and potential travel issues stemming from Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. Their plans were reportedly “drastically changed” as a result, something Tony Khan alluded to in a post on X after AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday. Many talents were missing from the shows and a lot of last-minute changes were made the last two weeks.

– Tony Khan is not expected at the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL game this weekend in London. It’s rare when Khan is not at one of their games.

– Tony Khan will hold an AEW Wrestle Dream 2024 media conference call this afternoon to promote Saturday’s pay-per-view at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA.

– Penelope Ford was backstage at last week’s AEW taping getting cleared for her return, which as seen last night took place during the AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday show.

– Britt Baker was legitimately unable to make the show due to illness and travel issues coming out of Florida with Hurricane Milton looming.

– Daniel Garcia is factored into “significant creative plans moving forward” after announcing his AEW re-signing during the AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday show.

WWE Raw Spoilers: Results of the Oct. 14 Raw taped last night in Atlanta after the live Raw concluded and other in-person observations

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

WWE RAW TAPINGS (SPOILERS FOR 10/14 EPISODE)
OCTOBER 7, 2024
ST. LOUIS, MO. AT ENTERPRISE CENTER
AIRED LIVE ON USA NETWORK
THANKS TO CORRESPONDENT JASON B. AND NICK W., CORRESPONDENTS

WWE will be touring the U.K. next week, so rather than run live on tape delay from the U.K., with the two hour format, WWE was able to tape next week’s episode after last night’s live Raw concluded. The following are notes on that taping, provided by Jason B. on last night’s Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Post-show starting at the 1 hour 24 minute mark.

NOTE FROM LIVE RAW

-It was a good show, but it felt off with the two hour format of the live Raw, although it was hard to put a finger on why. I’ve been to Smackdown double-tapings before, and if this wasn’t a double-taping for Raw, I would’ve felt cheated a little bit. I didn’t know until earlier in the day there’d be two Raws back-to-back.

-I sat about three rows behind production set-up and I spent more time looking at all the screens and the staff producing the show. It’s amazing watching the army of people involved in producing that event.

-Before Raw started, they taped matches for WWE Main Event. Blair Davenport wrestled, Julius Creed wrestled, and Brooks Jensen and Tavion Heights wrestled.

-C.M. Punk got a good reaction. Good reaction for Seth Rollins, too. Jey Uso was the star of the show, though. Kids love him. Jey’s reaction was a notch better than those for Punk and Sami Zayn.

-The match between Sheamus and Pete Dunne got a huge response. They are doing everything right when it comes to aligning the wrestler personas to fans since they’re cheering who is positioned to be cheered. That said, fans did cheer Breakker over Kofi later.

-Xavier was booed. Fans were picking up on where this seems to be going. It’s also tough for any babyface to get cheered against Jey. Jey is so connected with the crowd.

-People seemed into the Miz segment on the big screen.

-They kept fans engaged with the sign cam and DX pose and “the Universe Cam” where everyone was having fun dancing on camera. They know how to keep people engaged during commercials.

-I saw a few people leave after the live Raw took place. People caught on there was more to come and they hyped that Cody Rhodes would be out there later.

10/14 RAW SPOILER NOTES

-Rhea Ripley appeared in front of the audience and called out Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Tiffany Stratton came out instead and told her to stay out of Nia’s business. Rodriguez and Liv Morgan attacked both of them.

-Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill beat Kairi Sane & Iyo Sky to retain the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

-The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar reverting to a previous team name) beat Otis & Akira Tozawa.

-R-Truth beat Miz in about 30 seconds. Miz looked at Karrion Kross and The Final Testament when they came out. Truth tried to hug Miz. Miz wouldn’t. Truth hugged the ref instead. When Truth tried to leave, Kross threw him back into the ring and Miz gave him a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz got heavy heel heat.

-Bron Breaker beat Kofi Kingston to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title.

-Liv & Raquel wrestled Ripley & Tiffany, which ended when Nia Jax attacked Morgan and then encouraged Tiffany to cash-in her briefcase on Morgan. Dominik Mysterio pulled Liv to safety.

AEW facing a possible sub-2,000 crowd for the first time for a regular arena episode of Dynamite tonight; AEW ownership group disclosed

Click:handcrafts

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

Two notes about AEW today from other sources:

–WrestleTix has reported this morning an estimated ticket distribution total for tonight’s special Tuesday episode of AEW Dynanite in Spokane, Wash. is 1,729. There could be a large enough walk-up to get them past 2,000, but its far from assured. We believe this would be the smallest crowd for Dynamite at a regular touring arena stop.

–Wrestlenomics notes today that a filing in the ongoing lawsuit former announcer Kevin Kelly and former wrestlers the Tate Twins against AEW reveals that AEW’s parent company is Beatnik Investments LLC. The filing indicates that no publicly held corporation holds more than 10 percent of its stock. There has been speculation that Warner Bros. Discover might own a substantial portion of AEW as part of their media rights partnership, but this filing indicates that if they have a share of ownership, it’s less than 10 percent.

The authorized members of Beatnik Investments are Tony Khan and his sister Shanna Khan. Wrestlenomics reports that Shad Khan, Tony’s father, used that LLC to invest ovber $76 million in the Black News Channel, although that channel has since been sold following Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Wrestlenomics provides even more details on the LLC’s history in their report, which you can subscribe to via Patreon.

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority approved a resolution to allocate 7.125 million dollars to be used to help “securing and hosting the WWE SummerSlam” next year, according to a report released by the Sports Business Journal.

NJSEA spokesman Brian Aberback said the agency is in the process of “finalizing funding application” to the state Department of Community Affairs, which handles these types of grants, and expects “funds will be disbursed following the execution of an MOU [memorandum of understanding] with the NJDCA regarding the use of the funds.”

According to the report, the money is part of the American Rescue Plan funding that New Jersey received from the U.S. federal government during the COVID-19 pandemic. Money from the plan can be used to “respond to the negative economic impacts of the public health emergency by providing aid to impacted industries such as tourism, travel and hospitality.”

WWE SummerSlam 2025 is scheduled to take place on August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
