Backstage News On The Internal Reaction To Drew McIntyre’s Injury At WWE Bad Blood 2024

As we previously reported here on WrestlingHeadlines.com, Drew McIntyre was legitimately busted open at this past Saturday’s WWE Bad Blood 2024 pay-per-view event. The injury occurred when CM Punk hit him in the head with a toolbox.

Following the match, McIntyre received sixteen staples to close the nasty wound.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that CM Punk was originally planned to bleed during the match, not McIntyre. When the injury occurred, it was said that WWE officials were panicking backstage due to the seriousness of the wound.

At one point, there were talks of having the doctor attempt to stop the bleeding, but McIntyre insisted that he could continue. It was relayed to the back that McIntyre said if he began to feel woozy, they would go straight to the finish. After the match, there were no signs of a concussion and Drew was “very aware” and “in control” at all times.

AJ Styles Injury Update: Legitimately Hurt In TV Return, WWE Had Plans For His Retirement Tour

AJ Styles was, in fact, injured during his WWE television return.

As noted, despite initial reports, “The Phenomenal One” did legitimately injure himself during his comeback match on WWE SmackDown against Carmelo Hayes last Friday, and underwent an MRI after the show to determine the severity of the injury.

In an update, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com is reporting the following:

“AJ Styles suffered a mid-foot ligament sprain in his singles match with Carmelo Hayes. While he started selling when landing on his feet after a quebrada, and was selling an injury, the leg went out when he was doing an ushigoroshi and the referee stopped the match. He was pretty mad about the whole thing. Styles was to start a storyline where this would be his farewell tour or doing a retirement tease and that’s still the idea pending MRI results showing the severity of the injury.”

We will keep you posted.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays Issue Statement On The Damage At Tropicana Field, Ex-Home Of WWE’s ThunderDome

Hurricane Milton hit the state of Florida on Wednesday night as a strong Cat 3 with 120 MPH sustained winds at landfall, and the damage is widespread.

One of the areas impacted was Tampa, FL and Tropicana Field, which is the home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the site of WWE’s ThunderDome during the COVID-19 era.

As we previously reported here on WrestlingHeadlines.com, the roof of the building was completely shredded by the storm.

Tropicana Field has now issued a statement on the damage, which you can read below:

–>

–>

“During the past couple weeks, our beloved city, region and state have been impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We are devastated by the damage incurred by so many. Our priority is supporting our community and our staff. We are fortunate and grateful that no one was hurt by the damage to our ballpark last night. Over the coming days and weeks, we expect to be able to assess the true condition of Tropicana Field. In the meantime, we are working with law enforcement to secure the building. We ask for your patience at this time, and we encourage those who can to donate to organizations in our community that are assisting those directly impacted by these storms.”

On behalf of everyone here on WrestlingHeadlines.com, we send our best wishes to everyone affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton.

More On The Reason Why Britt Baker Missed Wednesday’s Episode Of AEW Dynamite

Click:wps下载

We reported earlier this week here on WrestlingHeadlines.com that former AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker missed this week’s AEW Dynamite TV tapings due to an illness.

Taking to Twitter, the D.M.D. posted a video to thank her fans who reached out after she was pulled from her Women’s Title Eliminator match against Willow Nightingale that was scheduled for Dynamite.

Baker says she was taken to urgent care and given antibiotics, an IV, and a shot due to a case of strep throat.

Prior to becoming ill, Baker attended the wedding of former AEW VP Megha Parekh.

Baker ended her video with a message to her critics – “To all the weirdos with your conspiracy theories, f**k off.”

Paul Levesque addresses absence of black male wrestlers being featured on recent WWE PLE events

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

WWE PLEs lately haven’t featured many black male wrestlers in the line-ups, which unlike in past decades, have been limited to just five matches per event in most cases. Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, was asked about this in his post-Bad Blood media Q&A last Saturday night.

“I see everybody gets the opportunity,” he said. “I don’t see the difference in anybody. I don’t see the color, the nationality; I see the talent. I don’t see the difference between men and women. I see talent. We tell stories with those talent. [We ask ourselves] how they can tell those stories and handle those stories and represent those stories and bring them forward? I don’t keep track of any of that. I do what is relevant and what is best, the best in storytelling, and that’s what goes.”

While NXT features black male singles wrestlers in prominent roles, including NXT Champion Trick Williams, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi, and top challengers Wes Lee amd Je’Von Evans, the black wrestlers on WWE’s main rosters (Raw and Smackdown) are featured on the level beneath the main events that usually occupy the five slots on PLEs, such as the Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston storyline on the Intercontinental level, The Street Profits in the tag team division, Carmelo Hayes who is in the U.S. Title mix, and R-Truth who is usually in a lower-card comedy segment.

Other than infrequent appearances by The Rock, WWE doesn’t currently have black male wrestlers in main event-level singles positions, although the roster otherwise features POC in prominent spots including The Bloodline, Jey Uso, Andrade, Legado del Fantasma, and Dragon Lee, among others.

WWE’s main roster Women’s Division is more diverse including Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill, who have have pushed at the top of the tag team division. They were also featured as “hosts” of Bad Blood. Naomi has recently been positioned as being a singles title contender.

Rich Fann and I spoke at length about this topic in this week’s “Everything with Rich & Wade” VIP podcast.
