Backstage News On The Massive Botch In WWE World Heavyweight Title Match at Money In The Bank

One day later and fans are still discussing the botch at WWE Money In The Bank.

During the Seth Rollins and Damian Priest world title match Rollins hit Priest with a Falcon Arrow and went for a cover. The referee counted two, but then pulled up on the three count, a moment that seemed odd as Rollins should have been crowned the new heavyweight champion. Instead, the referee didn’t make the count, Drew McIntyre cashed-in his Money In The Bank, and Priest ended up retaining after CM Punk nailed McIntyre with the world heavyweight belt.

According to Fightful Select, the error was on Priest’s part as he was supposed to kick out but didn’t. The referee, Rod Zapata, has no heat on him, especially considering that him counting the pinfall would have resulted in messing up a pretty important angle. Sources tell Fightful that it was a “shit happens” type of moment, and that no one should put too much stock into it, Priest included.

There were some who wondered if there was a miscue with McIntyre’s music, and that his entrance into the match was supposed to stop the count. This is apparently untrue according to on eWWE producer, who tells Fightful that entrances should not break up pinfalls.

Triple H addressed the botch in the post-Money In The Bank media scrum, where he commended Priest for his performance and hopes he doesn’t focus too much on one small error.

Wallingford Man Living A Dream Making Horror Movies

WALLINGFORD, CT — Daniel Kearney recently wrapped filming on his 21st feature film, working alongside some of the biggest stars in the horror genre that he grew up watching.

Kearney, who lives in Wallingford with his wife and three children, is living a childhood dream that started coming to fruition a few years ago when he began producing and acting in horror movies.

His latest project, “Deadly Endings,” was filmed at several homes and an abandoned factory in Wallingford from June 1 to June 17, with additional filming in Hamden and Middletown.

“Deadly Endings” is an anthology film that includes three separate horror stories and features a “cast of horror heavyweights,” according to Kearney. The featured cast includes Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2), Chaney Morrow (Wrong Turn, Haunt), Mark Patton (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2), Hannah Fierman (VHS, CREEPSHOW), Santiago Cirilo (The Walking Dead, and Kearney.

Kearney stars in the segment “One Last Shot,” which he said is a “highly emotional story” that has something for any scary movie fan.

Find out what's happening in Wallingfordwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

“There are monsters, there is serious deep emotion, and there are straight up terrifying scenes,” he said. “I hope that this film will be perennial, that fans of the genre will revisit. It is my biggest role, and I gave all I had into it. We aim for a mid-2025 release on both physical media and worldwide streaming.”

Kearney is also a producer on the film, which represents his 11th collaboration with Rose as producers.

Rose is a legend in the horror genre, with more than 150 film credits, and the reason Kearney got involved in films – and now one of his closest friends.

Kearney said Rose starred in the first horror film he ever saw, the cult classic “Sleepaway Camp.”

“I used to rent it habitually at Tommy Ks video store in North Haven in the 90s,” Kearney said. “The staff there always had it ready for me, I would tug my mom’s jacket and say can you ask them for me.”

Then, in 2014, as an adult, Kearney had the chance to meet Rose at a horror convention in Connecticut.

“We immediately hit it off, and the following years I would see her at convention after convention and in 2019 I said to her, ‘you know I really would like a chance in film’ she looked at me and said ‘let’s do it,’” Kearney said. “I was floored. She handed me a key and I just had to work and perform and by the grace of God, I landed project after project. Fast-forward to 2022, we shot and produced an incredible film Dark Circles at my family’s home right down the street in North Haven where I first rented her cult classic Sleepaway Camp. You just can’t make this stuff up, it was surreal, talk about full circle. I owe it all to her and taking that chance on me.”

Kearney has also worked with stars such as Alan Ruck, perhaps best known as Cameron Frye in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” who also starred in ABC’s “Spin City” and HBO’s “Succession,” and veteran character actor Terry Kiser – Bernie from “Weekend At Bernie’s.”

Kearney recently produced the horror-comedy “Crust” with Sean Whalen (Twister, Halloween 2) that starred Ruck and Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive) among others.

“Working with some of these actors has been mind-blowing,” Kearney said. “To bring pictures to life with these giants is surreal.”

Kearney said he got to spend time with Kiser while filming “Dark Circles,” which was also shot in Wallingford and will be released later this year.

“We had shot one night at Middlesex College and I came outside with him for a bit, and he just gave me the most incredible advice and shared his personal stories about performing,” Kearney said. “I take it with me everywhere I go.”

Kearney, who has 14 films coming out in 2025, will be taking a bit of a break until August when he heads to Pittsburgh for the horror feature “GRIND,” which he is producing and has a supporting role.

“My schedule has been insane the past few years but I’m very grateful for it,” Kearney said. “I don’t take a second for granted. Timing and travel is everything, it’s all a real work-life balance. My family comes number one in my life, so there are boundaries, but it has worked successfully. I think hard work is very important, I just want to show my children you can follow your dreams and make something from nothing – all is truly possible with kindness and belief in oneself.”

Kearney worked as a professional Michael Jackson tribute artist for many years, which he said helped him transition into film, along with classes, and gave him the confidence to pursue it.

“Being an actor was always a dream of mine, especially in the horror genre, but you know, I think everyone has that fear of really pursuing a passion, especially when you have so many responsibilities in life and there are no guarantees,” Kearney said. “I feel when you have children, you give up your dreams to make theirs come true, which is most important. I want to be fully accessible to my kids 24/7 so it’s not something I actively pursued. It was very serendipitous. If I did not have the signal to go ahead and the overwhelming support from my wife, it just wouldn’t have happened. She’s incredible.”

Kearney said while it’s exhausting work, he certainly feels like he’s living a childhood dream.

“I am inexhaustibly trying to create a film that resonates with fans just like the ones that meant so much to me, even just one,” he said. “The horror community is the sweetest, kindest, most genuine fan base of film. I want so badly to bring to life a film that people will love, or a performance people will come back to which is perennial. I have zero desire for any sort of fame, the complete opposite, I think that’s why I have been successful. I just want to bring a character to life that resonates.”

Britt Baker Reveals Why She Was Out Of Action So Long, Challenges Mercedes Moné To Match at AEW All In

Britt Baker shares her story.

After being absent since September 2023, former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker made her return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. She made a surprise appearance, interrupting Mercedes Mone’s celebration after Mone won the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.

On the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, Baker spoke for the first time about her absence. She revealed she had been dealing with two herniated disks and a hip labrum injury. Baker also shared that she experienced a transient ischemic attack, which doctors warned could be a precursor to a stroke. She spent several days in the hospital but, after a few months of recovery, was cleared to return to the ring.

Baker didn’t celebrate the news long. Moné came out and confronted her, with the two trading vicious shots at the other. In the end, Baker challenged the CEO to a matchup at All In London.

The bout has yet to be officially confirmed by AEW. Stay tuned.

Schreiber Student Empowers Community Through Education on Tourette's

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Lucas Lardoux, who just finished 11th grade at Schreiber High School, is stepping up to raise awareness and foster understanding of Tourette Syndrome within his community and across the state.

Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome himself, Lardoux has undertaken specialized training through the Tourette Association of America to become a Youth Ambassador, with a mission to educate and inspire.

“When people ask me why I wanted to become a Youth Ambassador, the short answer is I wanted to pave an easier path for kids struggling with the symptoms of this diagnosis,” he said.

Find out what's happening in Port Washingtonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Lardoux’s initiative stems from his personal journey with Tourette Syndrome and a deep-seated desire to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the condition. His presentations also ended up teaching tolerance and understanding for all kids struggling with something.

“Having TS at a young age was extremely difficult, especially in the early years when I was still too young to understand what was really happening,” Lardoux told Patch. “As I got older and kids were learning how to navigate their mental and emotional maps, the lack of control presented new challenges. Of course, there were times when I felt isolated and alone and felt that no one could understand what it was like. Control of your body was something that I believed everyone had the right to have. I often felt unlucky that I was born with something that seemed to cripple my voluntary actions, but as I grew older I began to understand that undergoing so many difficulties was not always a negative constant. It put me through a lot of challenges, sure, but they taught me resilience and helped me develop a strong sense of fortitude.”

Find out what's happening in Port Washingtonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Supported by the Tourette Association of America, the training he has received has allowed him to effectively deliver both educational and general community presentations. The sessions span all levels of education and can also be helpful to community programs, camps, and in many professional work settings. These sessions aim to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage empathy among peers.

In addition to the presentations, Lardoux has lobbied for educational and health related legislation on Capitol Hill with state and local representatives. Speaking from experience, he was able to share a personal perspective on why change is needed.

His goal locally in Port Washington for the 2023-24 school year was to engage with every fifth-grade student in the district, sharing insights and facilitating exercises to try and make others understand what it might feel like to have Tourette Syndrome.

“The reason why I love to work with elementary schoolers, specifically 5th graders, is because they are at a ripe age where they genuinely wish to learn. I find that they are not overly consumed by stress, work, or the moral dilemmas that those older than them experience and they are keen to pay attention,” Lardoux said. “To them, school and learning is something that really matters. They don’t fall asleep or skip out on classes and work. They are inquisitive and have an interest in picking up new things whether they realize it or not. It’s great because they really take in the information I provide to them and they understand the seriousness of the condition. They also leave knowing how to better respect those around them.

“Additionally, they are the most interactive age group to work with and are old enough to really focus. I find it easy to engage them in a way that keeps them attentive. In my opinion 5th grade is the golden grade for children because they are all pure and spirited individuals.”

“We are immensely proud of Lucas’ dedication to raising awareness about Tourette Syndrome,” said Dr. Michael Hynes, Superintendent of the Port Washington school district. “His passion and commitment exemplify the impact that individuals can have within their communities, and we are honored to support him in this important endeavor.”
