Update On Ticket Sales For ROH Final Battle

ROH will hold its Final Battle pay-per-view event from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, TX on Friday, December 15th.

WrestleTix noted the show has sold 800 tickets, and there are 2,912 left after tickets were put on sale a week ago.

It’s set up for 3,722 tickets. It’s already been announced that Tony Khan will have an update on the vacant ROH World Television Championship on next week’s Ring of Honor TV after Samoa Joe vacated the title.

Tony Khan AEW media call notes: Cash Wheeler, attendance audit, EVP roles

AEW head Tony Khan spoke to the media for nearly an hour Tuesday about the difficulties with the All In card, what he knows or doesn't know about the Cash Wheeler legal situation, and the potential for more in the UK.

The full audio from the call is available at the bottom of this post.

As recapped here, Khan said to expect changes to Sunday's card due to reasons that don't have anything to do with the world of pro wrestling. He said some were planned while others are being done on the fly.

Cash Wheeler

When asked about what he knew and when he knew it regarding Cash Wheeler's recent arrest, Khan didn't give a specific date but said that he hasn't known for long. As of now, the FTR vs. Young Bucks Tag Team title match is still happening, but that he is keeping an eye on what he called an "inconclusive situation" and that it was different than other situations they have had to deal with in that they don't have all the facts right now. He is taking it seriously.

No commitment to ticket audit

Khan would not commit to a ticket audit after the show to answer the anticipated controversy about attendance. He retorted with a question as to what WWE would do if asked that question, later saying he is looking forward to announcing an "accurate number."

EVP roles

When asked about roles of Kenny Omega and the Jacksons as executive vice presidents vs. those of Chris Jericho & CM Punk who don't have titles but have influence backstage, Khan said the EVPs have a variety of responsibilities but didn't directly answer the question or discuss the differences.

Khan also didn't answer how many years The Elite members signed for on their new deals, saying the start dates and end dates are different due to factors like injury time.

Here's some other notes:

Khan said the current gate for All In sits at around $10 million and 80,000 tickets.Khan hinted heavily that the company will have a bigger presence in the UK, but that before All In wasn't the right time to make those announcements known. He feels MJF and Adam Cole has been one of the best, if not the best, story they have ever told on TV.Khan said it will be up to Sting on when he wants his career to end, adding "I don't want it to end and I won't be the one to pull the plug on (his career)."Khan said WBD head David Zaslav recently told his father, Shad Khan, upon meeting him that "Your son is f'n killing it!"

'Oh, This Is The Song'; Stand With Maui; More: 7 Good News Stories

ACROSS AMERICA — Brandon Cullen’s best save wasn’t on the beach, where the 24-year-old West Islip, New York, man works as a lifeguard. It was in the operating room. Joe Curry needed a kidney, so Cullen gave his good friend one of his.

Curry, also, 24, had been diagnosed as a 6-year-old with Alport syndrome, a rare genetic disease that affects kidney function. He’d managed the condition successfully and enjoyed swimming, surfing and other water activities. He, too, became a lifeguard.

That’s how Cullen and Curry met. They lifeguarded together at the same beach, and discovered they’d had the same experiences growing up. And, they figured out later, the same blood type.

Find out what's happening in Across Americawith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Last fall, Curry’s kidneys betrayed him, and he was placed on the transplant waiting list with slim odds of finding a match. Cullen, who was in New Zealand in a work-study program, didn’t find out what was happening to his friend until he returned home for Christmas break.

“I slept on it,” Cullen told Patch’s Maureen Mullarkey. “And in the morning, I decided that it’s something that I need to do. I need to at least try and help my friend.” The way he stepped up, Curry said later, “was just miraculous.” » A Patch Exclusive by Maureen Mullarkey for West Islip Patch

The Time Of Their Lives

Here’s something you may not know: The original songs featured in “Dirty Dancing” reflect the creativity of Stacy Widelitz, who as a kid growing up on Long Island couldn’t force a single note from his flute and was written off by his teacher as utterly unmusical. In the early ’90s, he and fellow Long Islander John DeNicola and New Jerseyans Franke Previe and Donald Markowitz collaborated on three of the most famous and recognizable songs from the coming of age film set in the Catskills: “Hungry Eyes,” “She’s Like the Wind” and the finale, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Upon hearing it, “Everybody went, ‘Oh, this is the song,’ ” DeNicola said.n What changed for Widelitz? NYC Subway Stopper Back Home

History-Making Winners

What a group of young athletes from Massapequa, New York, accomplished “blows your mind,” Rich Eaton, the manager of the championship Under 12 Little League Softball World Series team, told Patch’s Jerry Barmash. The Message Of The Wallaby

What a wallaby named “Baby Joey” was being forced to do on the Coney Island boardwalk was an illegal act in New York City, and an even greater indignity, according to officials with Humane Long Island. The young marsupial was reduced to nothing more than a tourist attraction, an oddity people could have their picture taken with for a price. Baby Joey has been rescued now and the animal’s handler has been charged, but the problem is likely greater than this one individual, with stories of sales around Long Island for as much as $4,000. “Baby Joey belongs with her mother in Australia. It doesn’t belong in a cram bag on a Coney Island boardwalk,” Humane Long Island’s John DiLeonardo told Patch’s Peggy Spellman Hoey. “So that’s really the overreaching message here — wild animals belong in the wild. They don’t belong on the boardwalk, and they don’t belong in people’s homes.” » A Patch Exclusive by Peggy Spellman Hoey for Shirley-Mastic Patch

Sting originally considered December for AEW retirement

Ric Flair is set to help Sting ride into the sunset.

Two weeks ago, Sting revealed his final match will take place at AEW Revolution 2024. He recently told Sports Illustrated that he wanted to retire earlier but having Flair in AEW has motivated him to continue until next March's pay-per-view.

“I wanted to finish earlier, maybe in December,” Sting said. “But now that Ric is here with me, I want to go longer, all the way to Revolution.”

Flair was Tony Khan's gift to Sting on last week's Dynamite. It was one of only two times in his career that Sting says he's been emotional on-air.

“I’ve been emotional, full of tears, twice in my career. The first was Panama City when Ric and I had the last WCW match on Nitro. The second was last week on Dynamite.”

“When Ric came out and I heard his music play, it hit me,” Sting continued. “I had this flashback, and it made me emotional. Ric is the guy who put me on the map. We’ve traveled around the world together, and Ric helped make me. Now he’s going to finish with me."

“After all the travel, all the matches, all the press slams, all the chops, and all the woos–woooo!–I experienced the same feeling on Dynamite this past week with Ric that I did on that final Nitro. Except this time, it was so much more positive.”

As for what Sting has planned for the final months of his career, all he will say is that he wants to leave people with a memory that will mean something.

“All I can say for now is I want people to walk away and say, ‘Wow, what an ending,’” Sting continued. “I’ll be three weeks away from turning 65 at that point. I want to leave people with a memory that will mean something.”

Neither Sting nor Flair has been announced for tonight's AEW Dynamite in Louisville, Kentucky.

Lyra Valkyria ‘still processing’ WWE NXT Women’s title win

Lyra Valkyria is "still processing" her NXT Women's Championship win.

In the main event of NXT Halloween Havoc night one last Tuesday, Valkyria secured the biggest victory of her career by defeating Becky Lynch for the NXT Women's Championship. It was the first time that two Irish women have ever faced off for a WWE title.

Valkyria opened up about what the victory meant to her in an interview with the Irish Mirror. Valkyria said she's still processing the moment. She described it as a "picture that is so perfect I couldn’t have painted it."

It definitely feels like the payoff after years of the grind. I have imagined this so many different ways. The things that you think about are who would I beat? How would I do it? What would I say after? How would that feel holding that title up? What would I be thinking?

It’s like an out-of-body experience because all the times I imagined that and then when it happened it’s just sheer shock so I’m still processing.

All the ways I imagined it happening that wasn’t one of them because it never seemed within the realms of possibility Becky who has gone on to main event WrestleMania, one of the most decorated women in WWE I couldn’t imagine that she could have been NXT Champion in 2023, what were the odds and how could I see that happening and for me to be the one to dethrone her. It’s a picture that is so perfect I couldn’t have painted it.

The loss to Valkyria appears to have ended Lynch's run in NXT. Lynch held the NXT Women's Championship for more than a month after winning it from Tiffany Stratton this September. It was Lynch's first-ever NXT Women's Championship reign.

Lynch wrote on Instagram last week that she's immensely proud of her NXT title run. Lynch said the future is in good hands with Valkyria as champion.

The 27-year-old Valkyria wrestled as Aoife Valkyrie in NXT UK before debuting in NXT.

Valkyria told the Irish Mirror that her ultimate goal is competing in the main event of a pay-per-view.

John Cena to face Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel

John Cena's match for WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia has now been officially confirmed.

WWE has announced that Cena vs. Solo Sikoa will be part of the card for Crown Jewel. The show is taking place from Saudi Arabia on Saturday, November 4. It will air live on Peacock/WWE Network with a start time of 1 p.m. Eastern.

At Fastlane earlier this month, Cena & LA Knight defeated Sikoa & Jimmy Uso in a tag team match. Knight is challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel.

A brawl between Cena and Sikoa took place on SmackDown last Friday. It ended with Cena laying out Sikoa with an Attitude Adjustment. Jimmy Uso got involved in the brawl at one point, but Jey Uso appeared and provided backup for Cena.

With Hollywood on strike, Cena has made an extended return to WWE this fall.

Cena hasn't won a televised singles match since defeating Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018.

The updated lineup for Crown Jewel is listed below:
