Eric Young has ‘no doubt’ Impact Wrestling return was right decision

Eric Young has "no doubt" that his decision to return to Impact Wrestling was the right one.

Young returned to Impact at the promotion's Slammiversary pay-per-view this past weekend, appearing as Scott D'Amore's mystery partner for a tag team match against Bully Ray & Deaner. With former NHL player Darren McCarty serving as the special guest referee, Young & D'Amore were victorious in the tag team match.

In a tweet on Monday, Young reflected on his Impact return. Young wrote that it was a hard choice, but there's no doubt in his mind it was the right one: "This felt good! This felt right! I made a hard choice and there is no doubt in my mind it was the right one!"

This was Young's first match for Impact since departing the promotion late last year. Young signed with WWE following his Impact departure but ended up never appearing on television. Fightful reported that Young asked for his release and was granted it, with Young not wanting to work for Vince McMahon.

"WWE sources confirmed to Fightful that Young had cited moral, creative and personal reasons as why he didn’t want to work with Vince McMahon," the report said.

Young was previously with WWE from 2016-2020.

Young's history with Impact/TNA Wrestling dates back to 2004. He's twice been a World Champion for the promotion.

Click Here: Karim Benzema jersey sale

Crumbl Cookies To Open In 'Tight-Knit' Port Washington

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Crumbl Cookies is set to open in Port Washington on Thursday with a grand opening set a day later. The cookie store is at 20 Soundview Marketplace.

Crumbl offers large cookies and a menu that rotates weekly. The rotation, as well as the kinds of cookies Crumbl bakes, separate it from other cookie shops and bakeries, said Mai Pham, one of three co-owners of the Port Washington location.

“A lot of cookie competitors might have a chocolate chip cookie or an M&M cookie,” Pham told Patch. “Our cookies are inspired by a bunch of gourmet desserts. We’ll make cookies inspired by key lime pie or New York cheesecake. This week, we have Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. We have a wide variety of nostalgic desserts, and we put them into cookie form.”

Interested in local real estate?Subscribe to Patch's new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.

Pham is joined by co-owners Austin Dickens and David Del Rio. The three have become friends along their mission of bringing a Crumbl to Port Washington.

Crumbl was launched five years ago by cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley. It has since built 800 bakeries across 49 U.S. states and two in Canada. The business allows franchisees to open Crumbl shops in their local communities.

Dickens, who lives in Port Washington, called the community “tight knit.”

“Everyone kind of knows everyone,” he said. “We’ve got to be really adaptable to our target audience.”

Pham, invoking Crumbl’s mission statement of “bringing friends and family together over a box of the best cookies in the world,” said Port Washington is very family oriented.

“We felt like with the brand, there was a lot of opportunity,” she said. “Our cookies are really big and great for sharing and great for events. We just felt like there was a great case for Crumbl here and our product adds to the dessert-scape.”

Dickens encouraged people to bring their friends and family and say hi when the store opens.

Other than the rotating menu, Pham believes the open kitchen concept is what separates Crumbl from competitors.

“When people walk in, they’ll be able to smell and see the entire baking process from start to finish,” she said. “We want our customers to know when they come through our doors, they get high-quality hospitality and service, but they’re also getting a high-quality product that’s made from scratch and served warm or chilled.”

Crumbl offers a mobile app — the Port Washington team expects to go live on June 21 — as well as curbside pick-up, delivery, and order-ahead store pick-up.

The shop will also cater events, birthday parties and other functions.

The Port Washington store marks the first Crumbl for the franchise trio of Pham, Dickens and Del Rio.

Dickens and Del Rio met in 2013 while attending culinary school at Johnson and Wales University in Denver. The two became fast friends and moved to New York to pursue opportunity in the restaurant industry.

Dickens, an Alaska native, landed in Port Washington with Del Rio in 2016 after a family friend recommended the community as quiet, charming, and an easy commute to the city.

Dickens founded Last Frontier Hospitality in 2018 with the vision of helping restaurants incorporate hospitality and technology into their food and beverage programs. The team found itself without clients, opportunity or direction after the coronavirus pandemic shutdown began in 2020.

In 2022, Pham, an entrepreneur, was looking for a like-minded operating partner to build her own vision with. Her best friend from college introduced her to his cousin: Dickens. After many calls and meetings, the trio decided to team up to make their dreams a reality.

Pham had wanted to open a Crumbl for awhile but lacked the restaurant background or operating experience.

“It was something I felt was a really great brand and New York was pretty underdeveloped for the brand at the time, so I felt like there was a huge market opportunity,” Pham said.

The three originally thought of starting a business from scratch, but Crumbl fit what they were looking for in an opportunity.

“We really liked the product,” Pham said. “We felt the brand was strong in terms of their mission statement and its ‘why.’ It kind of aligned with what we were hoping to do. A bunch of things have to check the boxes, and it just happened that Crumbl was a great opportunity.”

Now, they are set to welcome the Port Washington community to their own location.

  • Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax defeated Natalya & Tamina to retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Natalya & Tamina won a tag team turmoil match on night one to earn the right to face the champs.
  • Sheamus defeated Riddle to win the U.S. Championship. It’s Sheamus’s first reign with the title since 2014.
  • Rhea Ripley defeated Asuka to win the Raw Women’s Championship. Rhea was to have defended the NXT Championship against Charlotte Flair last year at Raymond James Stadium until WrestleMania got moved to the Performance Center in the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s Rhea before and after her win:

Nothing Advertised by WWE

We are now past WrestleMania and can take a breath as we enter a different era if you will. NXT moves to Tuesday nights, so for all intents and purposes tomorrow night will be the seventh straight night of premium WWE product. In addition, WWE moves Raw and Smackdown and the Thunderdome to the Yuengling Center in Tampa, FL. The arena opened in 1980 under the name of the USF Sun Dome, and has hosted mostly college basketball and volleyball events. The 1995 Royal Rumble, won by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, emanated from this arena as well. Tonight’s edition of Raw is the traditional “night after WrestleMania,” which is traditionally one of the bigger editions of the year with returns and debuts. With no fans in attendance, it’ll be interesting to see how much WWE does in that regard.

Nothing is advertised as of the posting of this article, which is typical the day after a PPV. WWE did announce a change in the broadcast team. Adnan Virk will assume the play-by-play duties with Byron Saxton and Corey Graves returning to Raw. Virk has an on-air role with the MLB Network and co-hosts the GM Shuffle as well as Cinephile podcasts. He will retain those roles.

Samoa Joe will remain an “on-air talent” according to WWE. Whether that means a return to the ring for Raw or Smackdown remains to be seen. He could potentially be lined up as a challenger to either Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship or Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Joe has history with Lashley in TNA (now Impact Wrestling), including matches at the 2009 Bound for Glory and 2014 Slammiversary PPVs. Joe and Reigns feuded several years ago culminating in a match at Backlash 2018. Joe was a suspect in the “who attacked Roman” fiasco in the summer of 2019.

It will be interesting to see who is lined up for Lashley as well as Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women’s Championship. A.J. Styles and Omos hold the tag team gold, and Sheamus is the new U.S. Champion. We are in for a night of new feuds and potential returns & debuts. I will have the pleasure of joining Wade Keller on his signature Raw post show as we discuss the show and take your calls and e-mails. I look forward to interacting with you, the great PWTorch.com readers and listeners!

Bayley injured at WWE house show

*Update* Bayley posted this on Twitter:

Bayley was injured tonight at the WWE house show in Salisbury, MD.

The injury took place in a WWE Women's title match with Asuka defending against Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair.

Click Here: New Zealand All Blacks Jerseys

The injury was confirmed to be to the right knee. The hope at this point is the injury isn't severe.

From a video, Bayley was running in the ring and Asuka was on the ground. She didn't exactly trip on Asuka but may have stopped while running to avoid Asuka and she immediately went down and held her right knee. She didn't get up and the match was stopped. An "X" was thrown up and Charlotte and Asuka were in the ring while the doctor came out. They just had Asuka pin Charlotte immediately to end the match.

The four-way match with Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Asuka was stopped and she was able to leave the ring on her on own power with help from officials. It seemed to be a good sign that she was able to leave under her own power.

Bayley suffered a torn ACL while training at the WWE Performance Center in July 2021 and missed 13 months of in-ring action as a result. She made her return to WWE television at SummerSlam in July 2022, but did not return to the ring until August 2022 at a house show.

A feud with Shotzi had just kicked off on WWE SmackDown in the last several weeks, including Bayley cutting Shotzi's hair, and Shotzi responding by shaving her own head.

Brookline Nursery School Gives Parents 'Front-Row Seat' To Classroom

BROOKLINE, MA – A little-known nursery school in Brookline does things a little differently than your typical preschool.

The Corner Co-op Nursery School is, as its name suggests, a cooperative preschool, meaning teachers and parents are collectively responsible for making decisions about the school.

“We have a board and a community of parents who are involved in the kind of day to day decision making about the school, from hiring teachers, from thinking about field trips and community events, from restocking supplies in the classroom to doing semi-annual cleanups at the Co-op to thinking about new new ideas and new programming at the school,” Celia Green, the school’s administrator said.

Find out what's happening in Brooklinewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Parents are also encouraged to be a part of the classroom. Instead of dropping off their kids at the door and saying goodbye for the day, parents can lead activities or just sit in and watch their child learn.

“It’s a really great way and a unique way for parents to have a front row seat to this really special time in their child’s life,” Green said.

Find out what's happening in Brooklinewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Green’s daughter is currently a student at the school, which she said has been a special experience for her, to watch her learn and grow.

“You get to see their friendships develop, the fun things that they’re doing in the classroom,” Green said. “It’s so special.”

Starting from age two-years, nine-months through age five, children are taught together in a mixed-age classroom. The children follow a general day-to-day schedule, but are also given freedom to decide on activities for the day themselves.

“It gives them a lot of confidence, knowing they’re making choices for themselves,” Green said.

The school currently has 19 students in attendance.

It has maintained a strong community within Brookline, and has many “alumni families” – former students who now send their children to the school.

“It’s just so so special to have these like multiple generations coming back to the school,” Green said.

Green said the reason many former students decide to send their own children to the school is because of the sense of community the school offers.

The school hosts events and activities for students and their families year-round, such as potlucks, pizza nights, and even a camping trip to the Cape.

More recently, the school received two new murals by Alex Cook, a local muralist and the husband of Marcy Girt, a teacher at the Co-op.

Throughout the pandemic, the school remained open, first by holding classes over Zoom, then outside at parks around Brookline, before returning to the church basement in September of 2021.

Beth Mahar, a teacher at the co-op for over twenty years said the pandemic helped the school rethink the way it runs and develop new ideas for the future.

“We’re sort of re-birthing and reinvigorating as a Co-op,” Mahar said.

But the community-driven mentality remains the same, she said.

“It is like an extension of home where families feel very comfortable here and they get to know the other families and the other children.”

WWE touts massive viewership numbers for WrestleMania week (w/ Heydorn’s Analysis)

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

WrestleMania week for WWE proved to be successful once again.

Click Here: Spain National Team soccer tracksuit

In an open letter on Thursday and as reported by Wrestling Inc, Stephanie McMahon revealed massive video numbers around WWE content in the lead up to WrestleMania 37. Per McMahon, WWE secured 1.1 billion video views from WrestleMania week and 31 million hours of content that was consumed. In addition, 115 million engagements to WWE-related content were tracked. In the letter, McMahon also revealed that WWE Superstars took part in over 300 media interviews to help promote the biggest week of the year.

This year’s WrestleMania took place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Next year, WrestleMania 38 will take place at AT&T Stadium near Dallas, Texas.

Heydorn’s Analysis: So, that’s a huge number and one that top WWE brass will point to when questioned about the ratings success of their television shows. Traditional vs. non-traditional media engagement is an important subject, but a discussion for another time. The bottom line is, there clearly is an appetite for the WWE product during their biggest week of the year. WWE should look at those numbers and work tirelessly to convert the one or two-time Youtube viewer into a regular customer.

4/24 WWE TALKING SMACK REPORT: Sami talks about inspiration for his dancing over KO, plus Bayley, Cesaro react to Smackdown with hosts Braxton and Heyman

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

WWE NETWORK REVIEW: TALKING SMACK
APRIL 24, 2021
REVIEW BY NICK MORGAN, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Hosts: Kayla Braxton and Paul Heyman

This week’s guest: Cesaro, Bayley, Sami Zayn

– Kayla opened up the show welcoming us and noting that it has been 12 days (I think her math is off a bit since supposedly this is being recorded on Saturday the 24 and not right after Smackdown, it should have been 13 days, but I protest too much here.) Anyway, Kayla set up the show by saying that a lot is going on as people are positioning themselves for WrestleMania Backlash. She then turns to Paul and asks him how he is doing? This sets off some more of Kayla and Paul’s back and forth banter as Kayla tried to pull them back to the point of the show: Natalya and Tamina. Really, this is the main point of the show they want to push, the absolutely worse part of last night’s Smackdown. Paul knocked this down and Kayla moved on and worked towards welcoming their first guest: Cesaro.

– As Cesaro came out he stood in front of Paul trying to intimidate him as Paul tried to calm things down by complimenting Cesaro. Paul then laid things out, that Cesaro doesn’t get to talk to Roman. Instead, he must talk to Jey Uso, and if Jey approves he can talk to Paul and then if Paul thinks it’s appropriate, he will arrange an audience with the Tribal Chief. Cesaro stood mute during this and then reached out, shook/grabbed Paul’s hand while Paul talked about being professional, after merging into a two-handed shake, Cesaro simply left and through the whole segment did not say a word.

– Okay, I am totally confused. Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan did almost all of the talking during Cesaro’s on-air segments and here on Talking Smack he doesn’t utter a word. It is pretty accepted that Cesaro is not the best talker, but a couple of weeks ago he cut an Okay promo on Talking Smack, why not let him do another here. I mean they can do retakes and edit and make it good. Yes, standing there silent can intimidate Paul, but as an audience we know that he wouldn’t intimidate Roman with this, so we are left wondering, “Where is the fire in this guy, why should we as an audience get behind him?” For me personally, just the reason that he hasn’t gotten a big push before isn’t enough and just standing there in front of Paul is not productive for him or entertaining for us.

– Kayla sent us off to a break featuring a Peacock ad and the promo for the Roddy Piper biography on A & E.

Click Here: West Coast Eagles Guernsey

– And we are back with a thoughtful Paul who went on a short rant about Cesaro and how Paul thinks he is arrogant and threw out a “meta” comment about “if I offend you, you sell it”. Okay, it is fun watching Paul get pissed off.

– Kayla finally announced the next guest: Bayley. After Paul apologized for Cesaro and complimented Bayley and even kissed her hand. Bayley was in full Bayley mode and Kayla pointed out that she was wearing a Sami Zayn dancing tee-shirt (wow, they got that shirt out fast). After that Bayley went off on Bianca Belair saying that she got lucky and that now that she (Bayley) is back, Bianca has a problem. Bayley then went on to trash everybody, with a neat little needle at Sasha about how Bayley has defended her title on WrestleMania, implying that Sasha didn’t and has a checkered past in defending her titles.

– A true pro, Bayley then went to town on Bianca noting that while she does have some talent, she is not ready for Bayley or for heading up the women’s division like Bayley is. This was a classic heel promo given in Bayley’s great annoying character, Bayley is at the top of her game and I am happy to see her getting back into the main event picture. Kayla said goodbye while Paul continued to fawn over Bayley, and we went to break for the Vaccine promo and an ad for Monday’s Raw.

Back on set, Sami Zayn is at the desk and unfortunately not dancing. Kayla brought up Sami’s conspiracy theories and Sami went off on the difference between a conspiracy theories and actual conspiracies which Sami has had to deal with. After a rather long rant, Paul asked about the dancing and Kayla said she loved it and laughed out loud as the clip played on split screen. Sami noted that dance comes from the soul and the deep joy he had watching Kevin Owens get “nailed” by Commander Aziz.

– While Paul kept asking Sami to dance, Kayla and Sami tried to get serious and asked Sami for a hug, as Sami hesitate Paul told Sami to hug Kayla. Both Sami and Kayla demurred, and Kayla tried to go to break as Paul and Sami actually hugged. Sami noted that he actually needed the hug and thanked Paul. At this point Kayla wrested back control and sent us to break for a WrestleMania 2022 in Dallas promo featuring Stone Cold. And we are back.

– After a quick promo for the Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan match on Smackdown next week, Kayla threw to Paul for closing comments on that match. Paul sat there tapping he phone on the desk before stated that at WrestleMania Roman Reigns had the most definitive victory in WrestleMania history and that next week when Roman Reigns beats Bryan again, Bryan will be gone, finished, Kaput, out the damn window. Paul implored any fans of Daniel Bryan to watch next week because it will be the last time you will get to see Bryan in action. Bryan has pushed the Tribal Chief to far and now is the time for the consequences. Next week you will witness the most dominant champion of all time, Roman Reigns. This rant was about 2-3 minutes and was vintage Paul Heyman. It is hard to do it justice in the written word and if you do want to see a master at work with gestures, facial expressions, pauses and the use of the English language then I urge you to go and at least watch the last four minutes of this show.

– The show ended focused on Paul and Kayla did not say anything letting the power of the promo speak for itself as the show ended.

FINAL THOUGHTS: A short show this week at 25 minutes and was a good to very good watch. The end segment with Paul is a must watch. The Bayley segment was good, and it is fun to watch Bayley chew the scenery. I don’t think the Cesaro segment leading off the show landed very well. I can see what they are trying to do, position Cesaro as an intimidating threat, but versus Paul in this setting it doesn’t work that well. Sami segment was strange, which I guess is appropriate when Sami is involved. I am sure everyone watching (including me) wanted to see Sami dance, but all we got was the split screen replay. Yes, I know, always leave them wanting more, but they could have shown Sami leaving and walking up the stage and then busting out some dancing when he didn’t think anyone was watching or filming. That would have been funny and satisfying.

As I noted this was a good show and worth a watch, especially the final Paul rant, but also watch Bayley’s segment, she is really doing some good work in her heel persona.

Well, that is it for now, see you all next week. Until then, take care and stay safe.
