WWE

Rhea Ripley spoke to Sports Illustrated about her evolution in WWE: “I’m a very genuine person. When I first started in WWE, I was very timid and scared that I was going to do something wrong. I wanted to please everyone. That’s why you saw the Rhea Ripley you did. I didn’t think people would gravitate toward me. I thought they wanted something else from me. But it’s amazing. I stopped caring. I know myself better than anyone else. I found the confidence within myself to be myself. That’s the Rhea Ripley you see today.”The New York Post reported that Pat McAfee’s contract with ESPN is for five years and around $85 million total. McAfee will be making about $17 million per year.In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, The Undertaker discussed the reaction he’s received from fans now that he speaks out of character: “It's so funny, because I was the last guy that put that kind of effort into protecting the business and protecting a character. It's so funny the amount of hate that I've got, from people now, you know, they hear my normal voice, and me talk about normal things. The hate that I get because people feel like I destroyed their childhood and I'm like, ‘Me!?, me!? I was the last one. I was the last one, I'm the guy you're gonna take your heat out on?’”Undertaker also spoke to The Independent about how he’s dealing with retirement:I’ve got to the point now where if I’m home, I’m fine. It’s when I do show up at a WWE event I get that ‘I should be getting ready’ feeling. At WrestleMania 39, I was there and I had my family and friends up in a suite watching the show and I kind of found myself rocking in my chair like, ‘oh, my gosh, I should be down there’. So in those instances, it’s there. It’s still in my heart and it’s in my brain. After announcing her pregnancy, Alexa Bliss assured a fan on Twitter that she’ll be returning to the ring.Seth Rollins, Chelsea Green, Sonya Deville, and Titus O’Neil were guests on WWE’s The Bump this afternoon.Maxxine Dupri appeared on the latest episode of Out of Character.WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded the following matches: Triple H vs. Scott Steiner for the World Heavyweight Championship (No Way Out 2003), Otis vs. The Miz (Hell in a Cell 2020), and Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women's Championship (July 19, 2021 Raw).

AEW/Other Wrestling

With tonight’s Dynamite taking place in the city, today was declared as “All Elite Wrestling Day” in San Diego.AEW shared footage of Eddie Kingston, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson from their Fight Forever video game.On his podcast, Tony Schiavone said his current AEW contract runs through April 2024. Schiavone responded when Conrad Thompson joked about him having a lifetime deal with AEW: “That’s a f*cking lie. Unless my life ends by April of next year. There is no guarantee that they’re gonna re-sign me. There’s no guarantee on that. That’s how I approach life.”During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Cassie Lee (the former Peyton Royce) discussed returning to the ring for World Series Wrestling in Australia this October: “This is a home promotion for me in Australia. Shawn Spears is already doing it, and we thought it was kind of perfect for me to go along with him and take our son. It's really exciting and they were open to the idea. We've been talking about doing mixed tag stuff for a long time and it was a good opportunity to do that.”Lee was asked about potentially reuniting with her former tag team partner Jessica McKay: “At the moment, she's really focused on her acting career, which I still am too, but being a mom now, I feel I need to contribute a certain amount to our household and my son. I had a whole life before he came along and I had all my big accomplishments before he came along. He's so young, but we'll have photos and footage, and he'll know that he was there to see it all. Jess is still concentrated on acting, but I still want to tag. That's why I want to tag with Shawn. I love tag wrestling."Jonny Candido thanked Dark Side of the Ring for telling his brother Chris’ story: “A huge thank you to @DarkSideOfRing and @evanhusney for telling my brother’s story. You guys did an amazing job”Ichiban vs. TJ Crawford has been announced for MLW’s Fusion TV tapings in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 8.

MC Audiotech Forty-10 Loudspeaker, Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL Preamplifier, ZOTL Ultralinear Amplifier, and Reference 40 Amplifier

The MC Audiotech Forty-10 ($35,000) is probably the most exotic speaker seen and heard at the Florida Audio Expo. In our conversation, MC Audiotech’s Mark Conti revealed that the upper portion of the Forty-10, a two-way, is based on a patented Wide Band Line Source (WBLS) transducer; according to a white paper from the designer Paul Paddock, it could be called a “predictable flexible membrane” transducer and is related to “bending wave” technology. Though this represents a modern iteration, the device had its earliest conceptual origins back in the 1920s and 1930s; Paddock’s original patent, on which the Forty-10 is based, dates from 1985.

The top array of each Forty-10 houses 10 WBLS drivers behind a flexible membrane of a proprietary fabric that comes in a wide array of colors to suit your décor. Its frame is supported by a Folded Cube woofer, a dipole design, which reproduces frequencies of 100Hz and below. It comes with an external hybrid crossover that includes user-adjustable low-frequency levels and contouring to “tilt” deeper bass.

The Forty-10 is an efficient design, spec’d at 96dB sensitivity (93dB for the dual woofers; the Forty-10 must be biamped). In the demo system, the array was driven by Linear Tube Audio amplification, the ZOTL Ultralinear amplifier, which employs NOS 17JN6 power tubes (as employed in this amplifier, these exotic tubes have a claimed lifetime of 10,000–20,000 hours) and no output transformers ($6800), and the EL34-based ZOTL40 Reference amplifier ($6800). Preamplification was provided by a MicroZOTL preamp ($4450). Digital music data was delivered by a Wolf Audio Systems Alpha 3 music server ($6895) and rendered into analog by a PS Audio DSD DAC ($6000). The components were wired with Audience AU24 SX Series cables and supported by the Symposium Foundation Ultra rack ($3600).

I enjoyed this system’s aesthetic nod to midcentury modern design, but the best thing about it was the sound, which, on tracks from Bill Frisell and Count Basie, and on “Long Time Gone” by Billie Joe + Norah, was spacious in staging (yet to scale), smooth in dispersion, full of detail and texture, and natural. The Forty-10s seemed to disappear sonically more than many loudspeakers of more conventional design.

'Our Hearts Are Broken': Family Of Boater Found Dead Off Long Island

OYSTER BAY, NY — The family of missing 19-year-old boater Jack Koch said Monday that his body was recovered Sunday night in Oyster Bay.

The body of Koch, who was from Locust Valley, was recovered by a local fisherman near Caumsett Park, in Lloyd Neck Harbor, his family said.

In a statement to Patch, the family said that while their hearts are broken “at the loss of Jack, we are relieved he has been returned to us and grateful for the outpouring of love, generosity, and support from our wonderful community.”

“Jack was the most loyal, kind, and hardworking young man and we will hold him in our hearts forever,” the family said.

The family credited the multiple agencies that aided the search, including Nassau police’s Marine Bureau, the U.S. Coast Guard, New York Police Department’s Aviation Bureau, and the Oyster Bay Constable, as well as the Bayville and the Oyster Bay fire departments, Christian Aid Ministries, and “many local friends and family members.”

Police received a call about the body of a dead person in the water just before 1 p.m., and personnel from the police department’s Marine Bureau, along with Oyster Bay constables recovered it before taking it to Theodore Roosevelt Marina in Oyster Bay, Nassau police said.

The body was then taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office for evaluation, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Koch fell off a sailboat near Centre Island on May 15, prompting a massive multi-agency search of the surrounding water.

The U.S. Coast Guard officials suspended its search the following day after a 20-hour search, officials said.

He had fallen into the water while he was out with an 18-year-old friend sailing at around 11:30 p.m., and when he could not be found, the friend called another friend who was onshore, Nassau police said.

The teen, along with two other males, then took a boat and was able to find the sailboat along with the 18-year-old, but the 19-year-old could not be found, according to police.

The U.S. Coast Guard was contacted after a good Samaritan reported there were two people who fell in the water from a sailboat, near Lloyd Point at the entrance to Oyster Bay, at about 1 a.m., according to Petty Officer John Hightower.

Several boats, including from the Coast Guard’s Eatons Neck station, Oyster Bay Constable, the Bayville and Oyster Bay fire departments, and Nassau police’s Marine Bureau responded as part of a water search.

Helicopters from the aviation units of Nassau police and the New York Police Department, as well as a Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod, were all called in for overflight searches.

The search took place over 851 nautical square miles, the coast guard said.

The teen went missing days after officials recovered the body of James Jaronszyk from Great South Bay.

WWE NXT media call notes: Bron Breakker, Blair Davenport, Dyad updates

Shawn Michaels addressed the media on a conference call to promote NXT Battleground.

Here are notes from the call:

Regarding Bron Breakker not getting drafted to the main roster: Michaels said there are still some "really great matches" left for Bron Breakker in NXT. He's under the impression that Breakker will still be part of the brand for a while. When asked about Blair Davenport, Michaels said they are interested in having her back in NXT but the ball is in her court. Davenport hasn't wrestled anywhere since the Worlds Collide special on September 4, 2022. Earlier this year, it was rumored that she was dealing with visa issues.  Michaels mentioned Wes Lee as a standout performer on the current roster. Also mentioned Gallus has done great since coming over from NXT UK. Regarding the Dyad (Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid), he said there are no hard feelings regarding them requesting their release but while they are here he wants to put them in a prominent role. Says there is too much talent to waste there. There were plans for Indi Hartwell as champion before she got injured and then drafted to Raw. He loved the story of her winning the title. To the best of his knowledge, NXT will not be going head-to-head with AEW pay-per-views again but said those decisions are not made by him. The timing of NXT Battleground was to take advantage of the holiday weekend and also with Night of Champions the day before. There is nothing to update on the status of NXT Europe.  Regarding Ilja Dragunov not being on the main roster, Michaels said he doesn't make the decisions regarding who gets called up but he's very excited about Dijak vs. Dragunov on Sunday. Also mentioned that Dragunov hasn't really been in NXT that long and there are still several interesting matches for him here. He feels that it's only a matter of time before Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre have to return in order to defend the NXT tag titles.Michaels was asked about his history in the city of Lowell. Michaels famously "lost his smile" in the city and also once dropped the European title to Triple H in a rather controversial fashion there as well. He responded that he may have lost his smile in Lowell but he'll find it again in Lowell too. Michaels said he had a pretty decent idea of who he was going to lose in the draft. He continued to say losing 15 wrestlers from their roster is an adjustment but he feels very comfortable with it.

Joe.
