While You Were Asleep: Messi whistled by PSG fans, Inter warm up for Champions League final, Leipzig win German Cup

Lionel Messi was booed by the PSG supporters when the Argentine name was announced for one last time at the Parc des Princes. He was again whistled when he missed a chance in the second half with the score level at 2-2.

PSG fans have jeered Messi in the past couple of months as his form dipped after he helped Argentina win the World Cup.

However, Messi did walked onto the field with a smily on his face, alongwith his three sons.

Clermont earned a 3-2 win over the hosts at the Parc des Princes on the final day of the season.

“I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future,” Messi told the club website.

In two seasons at PSG, Messi won two French leagues and the French Champions Trophy and notched 32 goals and 35 assists in all competitions.

The World Cup winner didn’t sign the contract extension that Qatar-backed PSG offered him and has been strongly linked with a move to a Saudi club where he could earn more money than Ronaldo.

Inter ready for CL final

Inter Milan round off Serie A season with 1-0 win over Torino and now would be looking to be the party-poopers and ruin Pep Guardiola’s treble dreams at Istanbul.

Inter Milan finished third in the Serie A table after Saturday’s 1-0 win vs Torino. Marcelo Brozović scored in the 37th minute with a potent strike from outside the area after being set up by Romelu Lukaku.

Inter have already secured back-to-back victories in the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana this season.

“It is thanks to the victories but also learning from a few defeats that we put ourselves in this position,” Inzaghi said to DAZN.

“I wanted to win today because we owe it to our club and our fans, we wanted to improve our position in the table.

“Now we have this great dream of the Champions League, we go there to play our best against a side with immense quality.”

Nkunku shines for Leipzig

Christopher Nkunku scored one and set up the other as RB Leipzig won back-to-back German Cup titles with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

It took a stroke of fortune for Nkunku to score in the 71st minute as the French forward’s shot from the edge of the penalty area bounced off two different Frankfurt defenders, leaving goalkeeper Kevin Trapp with no chance.

Dominik Szoboszlai made sure of the win in the 85th when the Frankfurt defense crowded Nkunku, who passed for the unmarked Szoboszlai to fire a shot past Trapp.

Leipzig’s win means Bayer Leverkusen, which placed sixth in the league, qualifies for the Europa League again after reaching the semifinals this season.
