Ezra Miller, who has played The Flash since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is now said to be writing a version of the script for The Flash with comics author Grant Morrison.

As reported by THR, this move is in response to a “clash of creative visions” between directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who want a more light-hearted approach, and Miller who “is said to want a darker take on the material.”

Additionally, these sources say that the script may be ready to submitted to the studio as early as next week.

It is said that if WB decides to go against Miller and Morrison’s take on The Flash, “the actor could part ways with the project,” as “Miller’s holding deal on Flash expires May.”

Though there appears to be some friction between the star and studio, Miller is still heavily involved as he is also part of WB’s Fantastic Beasts franchise and plays a key role as Credence Barebone.

This lighter-tone strategy by WB is very much in-line with its approach to films such as Aquaman, which has recently earned over $1 billion at the global box office, and Shazam!, which “is wearing its “superheroics is fun” on its sleeve.”

The Flash solo film has had a bumpy road as it lost its first director, Rick Famuyiwa, in 2016 and its production was delayed last year, which may push the film’s release back to 2021.
