Stiles, Zedak, Kilfoyl, Mattingly and Pollard earn MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Makenzie Stiles of Deposit (N.Y.), Marist’s (Ill.) Angela Zedak, Academy at the Lakes’ (Fla.) Alexis Kilfoyl, Haley Mattingly of Marion County (Ky.), and Sidney Pollard of Pe Eli/Willapa Valley (Wash.) were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played the week of May 21-27.

East Region
Stiles went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA, one hit, no runs, one walk and 49 strikeouts over 21 innings. After starting her week with an one-hitter and 13 strikeouts against Afton, she pitched back-to-back no-hitters versus Gilboa-Conesville (20 strikeouts) and Marathon (16 strikeouts). Stiles received an abundance of support in the three games, as her offense scored 43 runs.

North Region
Zedak was a perfect 1.000 at the plate against two opponents. She went 2-for-2 with two runs, two homers and five RBI against Blue Island Eisenhower, then had three hits, including two doubles, a homer, two runs, and four RBI against Reavis. She is now hitting .520 for the season, with 17 homers and 58 RBI.

South Region
Kilfoyl went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, four hits, three walks and 24 strikeouts over 15 innings in the circle to earn her second honor of the season. She held Lake Worth Christian hitless over four innings (11 strikeouts) and yielded just four hits over 11 innings while fanning 13 in an 1-0 victory over Aucilla Christian. She was also honored on March 26.

South Central Region
Mattingly was 2-0 with just two hits allowed in 14 innings of action, no walks and 29 strikeouts. She no-hit Adair County, fanning 18, then struck out 11 in a two-hit shutout of Taylor County. For the season, Mattingly has amassed 237 strikeouts over 153 innings while compiling a 0.92 ERA.

West Region
Pollard batted .850 (17-for-20) with 15 runs, five doubles, three triples, a homer and 10 RBI in five games. She went 3-for-3 with a double, two triples, three runs and three RBI in a win over Brewster to highlight her stellar week.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season with a player from each of five separate high school regions is selected. During the fall campaign, one representative is chosen from the participating regions.
