LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is proud to announce the 361 players chosen for the 2015 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams.
As in the past, the squad is comprised of three teams in each of the country’s eight NCAA regions.
Unbeaten two-time defending national champion Tufts University leads a strong contingent of players from the NFCA Division III Top 25. The top-ranked Jumbos are one of seven teams placing the maximum six players on the squad in their respective region.
Second-ranked Texas Tyler, fifth-ranked Luther, No. 6 Trine, No. 12 Rowan, No. 19 Cortland and receiving votes Aurora also had six players selected. Texas-Tyler topped all schools with five first-team picks.
Eleven schools — No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan, No. 10 Virginia Wesleyan, No. 11 Christopher Newport, No. 14 Texas Lutheran, No. 15 Alfred, No. 20 St. Thomas (Minn.), No. 22 Washington (Mo.), Berry, Linfield and Messiah — had five players chosen, while 15 others garnered four spots apiece.
All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 21 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Salem, Va.
