Lackie, Jimenez, Wyllie named 2017 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Holden’s (La.)  Olivia Lackie, West Texas’ (Stinnett, Texas) Faith Jimenez and Boulder Creek’s (Anthem, Ariz.) Kennedy Wyllie were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for their outstanding play during the week of Feb. 27 through March 5.

South Region
Lackie, a freshman, put forth two dominant outings as she struck out 42 of the 51 batters she faced in a pair of complete-game shutouts, 1-0 victories over Albany and Sumner. In her first start of the week against Albany, Lackie twirled a nine-inning no-hitter, sending 25 Hornets back to the dugout via the strikeout. A day later, she fanned 17 in a three-hit blanking of Sumner, allowing just three singles.

South Central Region
Jimenez was near perfect at the plate, hitting .917 (11-for-12) with seven doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI and 13 runs scored as she helped West Texas to five wins last week. The junior pitcher and first baseman slugged 2.000 and walked six time, which attributed to her .944 on-base percentage. In a victory over Booker, Jimenez double, homered, drove in five and scored twice. She knocked in four more runs, scored four times and recorded three doubles versus Tulia. Additionally against the Hornets, Jimenez earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs, both unearned, on two hits with nine strikeouts and a walk in 6.1 innings of work.

West Region
In two games last week, Wyllie was 8-for-9 with seven extra-hits, including three home runs, which attributed to her eye-popping 2.444 slugging percentage. The sophomore led the Jaguars to a pair of wins over Cesar Chavez and Bash High Schools. She recorded three doubles, a triple, 10 RBI and six runs scored, just missing out on the cycle in both contests. Against Cesar Chavez, Wyllie logged four extra-base hits- two doubles, a triple and a round tripper- with four RBI and three runs scored. The following day, she launched two homers, doubled, knocked in six and scored three more times in a 15-13 win over Basha.
