East Texas Baptist’s Lindsey, Tufts’ Fournier Earn Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Hitter, Pitcher Of Week Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — East Texas Baptist’s Lacey Lindsey and Tufts’ Allyson Fournier have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

 

Lindsey, a sophomore first baseman from Leander, Texas, batted .524 (11-for-21) this past week for the No. 3-ranked (31-2) Tigers, which have now won 17 straight. She had three home runs and six runs batted in during the finale of a three-game series with Sul Ross and compiled four multi-hit and three multi-RBI contests.

Seven of Lindsey’s 12 hits went for extra bases and she struck out just once while scoring eight runs and stockpiling two doubles, five homers and 11 RBI over six games.

Meanwhile, Fournier continued her dominance for the two-time defending national champion (38-0) Jumbos, earning her second straight national honor and fourth in the past seven weeks. The senior right-hander from South Windsor, Conn., was 7-0 with a 0.00 earned-run average, four hits, no runs, five walks and 92 strikeouts over 38.1 innings.

Fournier pitched no-hitters against Endicott (18 strikeouts) and Colby (16 strikeouts) and also had four one-hitters during the week. She lost three no-hitters in the final inning and fanned 11 or more batters in six of her seven contests. She now has 16 career no-hitters.

Randolph-Macon freshman pitcher Nelda Bagley went 4-0 for the week with a 0.75 ERA, four complete games, two shutouts, and just three extra-base hits allowed in 28 innings. … Neumann sophomore pitcher Haley Broomell was 3-0 for the week with an 1.27 ERA, two shutouts, three complete games, and 24 strikeouts in 22 innings. … Beloit junior right fielder Tala Cornell hit .667 (8-for-12) with five doubles, a homer, three walks and four RBI. She had two hits in all four games she played. … Moravian senior first baseman Jenn Dalickas was 8-for-13 (.615) with seven runs, two doubles, two homers, three walks and five RBI. … Misericordia junior shortstop Whitney Ellenberg batted .500 (9-for-18) with three doubles, three homers and nine RBI. … Utica senior catcher Courtney Fitzgerald was 7-for-15 (.467) with three runs, five doubles, a homer and 11 RBI. … Bates senior utility player Kelsey Freedman hit .432 (16-for-37) with a double, four homers, five walks and 10 RBI. She also went 6-2 in the circle with a 2.55 ERA, one save, a shutout and 58 strikeouts in 49 innings. … Lesley sophomore left fielder Mekenzi Golden was 16-for-32 (.500) with seven doubles, two homers and 13 RBI. She had six multi-hit games. … Texas Lutheran junior pitcher Taylor Grissom was 3-0 for the week with a 0.54 ERA, 10 hits, one run, three walks and six strikeouts over 13 innings. … Salisbury senior pitcher Rachel Johnson was 3-0 for the week with a save, three hits, no runs, no walks and 26 strikeouts over 16 innings. She collected her season best-tying 15th strikeout in an one-hit shutout of Catholic, which was also the 1,000th of her career. Johnson also one-hit Washington College. … Messiah sophomore shortstop Amanda Jones hit .462 with two extra-base hits. … Wisconsin-Oshkosh junior second baseman Hayden Krueger was 11-for-17 (.647) with nine runs, two doubles, four homers, two walks, three steals and 11 RBI. She homered in her first four games of the week and hit safely in all six contests. … SUNY Canton sophomore second baseman Stephanie LaValley batted .452 (14-for-31) with two doubles, four homers and 10 RBI. She had five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests while putting together a perfect week in the field (18 putouts and 13 assists). … Messiah junior pitcher Claressa Mees was 2-0 for the week with a 0.00 ERA, five hits (all singles), two walks and four strikeouts in 11 innings. She tossed a no-hitter against Albright. … SUNY Farmingdale senior outfielder Michelle Mongiello was 5-for-10 (.500) with two runs, a double, homer and five RBI. … SUNY Oneonta sophomore outfielder Katie O’Gorman batted .647 (11-for-17) with six runs, four doubles, two triples, a homer, four walks and five RBI. … Moravian freshman pitcher Josie Novak was 2-0 for the week with a 0.00 ERA, two shutouts, four hits, no walks and 20 strikeouts in 14 innings. She pitched a pair of two-hitters against Staten Island and had a career-best 12 strikeouts against Neumann. … East Texas Baptist graduate student Shelby Parker was 5-0 for the week with a 0.80 ERA, two shutouts, 14 hits, three earned runs, two walks and 40 strikeouts over 26 innings. She recorded 10 strikeouts over the first four innings of a five-inning combined perfect game with Shelby Phillips in the first of three games with Howard Payne and fanned 14 Payne batters in a later one-hit shutout. … Ithaca junior pitcher Laura Quicker was 3-0 for the week with a 0.27 ERA, three complete games, two shutouts, one earned run, two walks and 17 strikeouts over 26 innings. She pitched all 12 innings of the Bombers’ win over Buffalo State. … Trine junior pitcher Justine Robles had two complete-game victories for the week and allowed two earned runs while striking out 18. She fanned 10 Alma batters in a two-hit shutout and struck out eight in a win over Saint Mary’s. … Trine senior outfielder Carly Searles was 8-for-12 (.667) with 10 runs, three homers, four RBI and three steals. … Franklin sophomore infielder Baylea Suiters hit .538 (7-for-13) with seven runs, three doubles and 10 RBI. … Central (Iowa) senior second baseman Abbey Strajack was 12-for-17 (.706) with seven runs and a double. She went 4-for-4 twice, had a 3-for-5 game and tied the school record for career runs (145). … Wheaton (Ill.) junior utility player Katie Thornton batted .500 (11-for-22) with five runs, two doubles, three homers, two walks and seven RBI. She also went 4-0 in the circle with a 0.69 ERA, a save and a five-inning three-hitter. … Neumann senior outfielder Allie White was 16-for-30 (.533) with 12 runs, six doubles, a triple, homer, two walks and eight RBI. … Eastern University sophomore pitcher Haleigh Williams tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts against Delaware Valley. … Luther sophomore pitcher Amanda Witzlib was 2-0 for the week with an 1.50 ERA, nine hits, four walks and 30 strikeouts over 14 innings. She pitched a three-hitter (16 strikeouts) against Dubuque and fanned 14 in a victory over Buena Vista.
