An alleged data mine has potentially revealed a list of Super Nintendo games that may be headed to Nintendo Switch Online.
Via Polygon, KapuccinoHeck has discovered a list of SNES games in some code in “NES Online’s strings” and it reveals many titles that may be arriving on the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future.
The list of games is as follows;
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Soccer
- The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
- Demon’s Crest
- Yoshi’s Island
- Stunt Race FX
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- Pop’n Twinbee
- Star Fox
- Contra 3
- Kirby Super Star
- Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
- Kirby’s Dream Land 3
- Super Metroid
- Super Mario World
- Pilotwings
- F-Zero
- Star Fox 2
- Super Punch-Out!!
- The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
- Super Mario All-Stars
- Breath of Fire 2
When reached for comment, a representative for Nintendo of America told IGN “We have nothing to announce on this topic.”
Many of these games appeared on the SNES Classic, but titles such as Pilotwings and Demon’s Crest would be new additions, potentially indicating that this wouldn’t necessarily just be a SNES Classic bundle.
While Nintendo has never explicitly said that SNES games would be joining Nintendo Switch Online as NES titles have, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime did say he envisions “the Virtual Console successor” to be Nintendo Switch online.
NES Online currently has 29 titles, with Zelda II: The Adventures of Link and Blaster Master joining the library this week Adding SNES to the mix would be a great addition to those subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online.
